Cooler, Faster, Better!

Last year we told you the future of fencing was here when we moved into our new 7,200-sq.-ft. space next door. We were so proud of it, and we kept going.
Two upgrades landed at Arena over the summer break. We've mounted large ceiling fans over the training floor — in a space this size, they let our air conditioning do its best work, pushing cool air down and out so conditions are the same in the far corner as they are by the door.
And then there's the flooring.
Five of our nine pistes are being upgraded
Five of our nine strips are being upgraded to competition-grade grounded pistes. The first one is live — Friday evening's fencers tried it out, and it performs just like the strips at regionals and nationals.
If you're a fencing parent, here's why that matters more than it sounds. On an ungrounded floor, a blade that lands on the ground can register as a touch — a phantom point that never happened. A properly grounded metallic piste sends those hits to ground, so the box only lights up for a real touch.
Most clubs don't have this. Plenty of sanctioned competitions don't either. Your child will train on a surface better than what they'll meet at many tournaments — so every touch in practice counts the way it's supposed to, and nothing they've built here works against them on event day.
